USABILITY TESTING

I conducted usability testing with five participants to evaluate the Pallet Lotto website on both desktop and mobile devices. The primary objective was to determine whether users could successfully complete the main task flows: drawing a lottery ticket or gifting one.

The most significant change after usability testing was removing the left-side navigation panel and redesigning the home screen. Initially, the home screen offered users a simple choice: to gift or keep their ticket, but the client wanted a more detailed and engaging home screen. So we updated it to feature a leaderboard and user profile, displaying personal stats and leaderboard standings. Ultimately, we focused the home page on the user’s “inventory” of tickets, making it easy to access and play tickets, as this was the website's primary action. We also integrated the left-side navigation functions into existing flows, simplifying the main screen for users.

Upon website launch, we had one final iteration. Instead of having a “free ticket” that could be claimed daily, we made it so that users were able to buy more tickets after their free daily spin, so that they could continue buying lottery numbers and keep playing as long as they wanted. The subsequent tickets were purchased by their “Pallet Points”, which were accrued on the parent website.
