Pallet Exchange is an NFT marketplace on the Sei blockchain. As part of a major marketing campaign, Pallet is launching a 4-week campaign to reward active users and offer free prizes to attract new ones.
THE PROJECT

At its core, this website served as a rewards system for Pallet Exchange users. The goal was to gamify the system, making it entertaining and engaging so users would keep coming back.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge was twofold: first, designing and finalizing the user flow (the client had several ideas but nothing set in stone) and second, crafting custom graphics that would match the aesthetic that the client envisioned.

INTRODUCTION

I began by examining "free spins" in retail marketplaces, such as how the grocery ordering app Wee offers a free spin upon login (usually landing on a 10% discount or access to special deals) as well as studying online lottery systems for inspiration. Although gamifying a lottery website seemed straightforward, Pallet Exchange's multiple ideas made it challenging to distill user flows into a simple and efficient format. My aim was to avoid overwhelming users with excessive information that could distract from their primary task of collecting free spins / lotto tickets, while also creating an engaging game loop to encourage repeat visits. Additionally, I needed to incorporate several secondary features, such as a gifting mechanism allowing users to share free spins with friends, in the most intuitive way possible.

I recognized that many "free spins" or "free gifts" on marketplaces and retail sites often appear spammy and cluttered, which I wanted to avoid entirely. I also needed to design integrations with the Compass wallet & Twitter seamlessly. Additionally, working within Pallet Exchange's established branding required me to use their signature warm colors, particularly orange, and to incorporate a Japanese cartoon-inspired aesthetic as requested.
